How Google Gemini / Imagen marks images
Google images may contain standard metadata headers as well as SynthID invisible pixel watermarks embedded directly into image frequency components.
What gets embedded in the file
Header metadata may contain generator tags. Additionally, SynthID embeds an imperceptible pattern across pixel values.
Lossless cleaning method
Clean removes file metadata (EXIF, XMP, IPTC) ONLY. In strict accordance with our ethics policy, this tool NEVER alters pixels and does NOT touch or defeat SynthID.
Technical limits and policy
CRITICAL NOTICE: SynthID is an imperceptible pixel watermark developed by Google DeepMind. This tool cleans file metadata only and will NOT remove SynthID. Platforms scanning for SynthID will continue to detect it.
How to Clean Google Gemini / Imagen Images
Add your Google Gemini / Imagen file
Drag and drop your JPEG, PNG, or WebP image into Clean on your desktop or mobile browser.
Select your preset
Choose "Remove AI markers only" to drop generation manifests while keeping color profiles and EXIF.
Download clean image
Download your cleaned image with bit-identical pixel data and no embedded generator flags.
Google Gemini / Imagen Metadata FAQs
What metadata does Google Gemini embed in images?
Google Gemini embeds C2PA manifests identifying Google as the claim generator, as well as IPTC digital source tags. In addition, Google embeds SynthID directly into image pixel frequencies.
Can Clean remove Google SynthID from pixels?
No. Clean operates strictly on file metadata headers (C2PA, EXIF, IPTC, XMP). It does not alter image pixels, and therefore cannot remove invisible pixel watermarks like SynthID.
Why should I clean Gemini image metadata?
Stripping the C2PA and IPTC headers removes software signatures, device tags, and editing provenance from the file container before sharing or archiving.
