Disclaimer & Technical Boundaries
Important notice on technical capabilities, disclosure laws, and terms of ethical use.
1. Scope: File Metadata Only
clean.hexalab operates strictly on file metadata containers (JPEG segments, PNG ancillary chunks, WebP RIFF headers). It strips or modifies container headers such as EXIF, GPS IFDs, XMP packets, Photoshop 8BIM IPTC records, and C2PA JUMBF manifests.
2. What This Tool CANNOT and WILL NOT Do
- Pixel Watermarks: This tool never modifies compressed image pixels or frequency distributions. It does not touch, weaken, or defeat invisible pixel watermarks such as Google DeepMind's SynthID or Digimarc. Platforms scanning pixel values will continue to detect those watermarks.
- Visible Logos and Watermarks: This tool does not perform inpainting or pixel removal of visible logos, signatures, or overlays.
- Humanizer Noise: This tool does not inject adversarial noise into pixels to fool machine learning image classifiers.
3. Legal and Regulatory Obligations (EU AI Act & Platform Rules)
Under regulations such as Article 50 of the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act) and terms of service across major digital platforms (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, X), creators and publishers may be legally obligated to disclose when an image or video is artificially generated or significantly altered.
clean.hexalab does not provide legal advice. Stripping metadata does not exempt you from statutory or contractual disclosure requirements. If you generated an image using generative AI, you must comply with applicable disclosure laws and platform rules.
4. Permitted Use
You must only use this tool on digital media that you own, or for which you have explicit permission from the copyright owner to inspect and modify.
